Both parents of Karson Matthews have been convicted of aggravated child abuse related to the two-month old’s death in 2018.

Kristopher Matthews

This week Kristopher Matthews, 40, of Tallassee saw his case go to trial in front of an Elmore County jury. C.J. Robinson, 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney said Karson was born in July 2018 weighing 6 lbs. 2 oz. Two months later the infant was taken to the Elmore Community Hospital weighing significantly less after he became unresponsive. Karson was soon declared dead.
