Cliff Williams / TPI Churches also had booths at the Red, White and Blue Celebration in Tallassee on Saturday.

The Tallassee Chamber of Commerce Red, White and Blue Celebration brought crowds to downtown Tallassee Friday and Saturday. A Jeep show and music filled the streets Friday night and King Street was filled with visitors shopping with vendors. The night finished off with a concert by Ronnie McDowell at the Mt. Vernon Performing Arts Center and fireworks. It’s a date for the Summer Fest event normally held in mid-to-late June. “We are hoping it helps more people attend,” Tallasse Mayor Joey Wiginton said. “The weather in June can get so hot. We believe this is a better time for it.” Saturday’s event saw a petting zoo, live music on the sidewalk and more.
