Reeltown High School English teacher Jordan Watts found out she was pregnant the day before Mother’s Day. She did not have any symptoms that motivated her to take the test but calls the feeling that propelled her to do so mother’s intuition. When her husband returned from getting dinner, she shared the news then they shared their excitement together.

Watts had a healthy pregnancy until she hit the 20-week mark. During her anatomy scan, the sonographer discovered her daughter’s heart was not in the right position. During the appointment with the maternal-fetal medicine specialist, the family was also told Watts’ cervix was nine millimeters in length while the typical cervical length at her stage in pregnancy is 3.5 to 4 centimeters. Cervical length is not closely monitored in women who do not have a history of preterm labor.
