The pilot of a plane that crashed March 28 near Dadeville and heroically tried to save the life of his wife has died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, according to Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett.

David Lee Currier, 67, died Saturday at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, 11 days after he was flown from the crash site in a long line rescue by Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Aviation Unit.
