Water continues to rise due to lingering rain, storms

A Christmas Eve/Christmas Day weather system left the local area soaked and lake levels elevated, but caused no major flooding, according to county emergency management authorities.

“We suffered some washed out roadways and culverts,” said Jason Moran, director of the Tallapoosa County Emergency Management Agency. “Most of those were in the southern portion of the county, but there was one in Camp Hill. Most of those have also been repaired.
