After a great season, Edgewood Academy’s girls basketball team finished in second place in AISA Class A Region 1 and was set to fight for a spot in the playoffs. Things ultimately did not go the Wildcats’ way, as they fell to Lakeside 54-34 on Friday night.

“(Tonight) I saw some of the stuff that we’ve been working on over the course of the season,” Edgewood coach Joseph Townsend said. “I know for a fact we’ve gotten better. I think that with our setbacks, a few of our girls have been sick; the flu has been going through our school and this tournament just hit us at the wrong time. But you know, it is what it is. We’re gonna keep working and get back at it and come out stronger next year.”
