Cary Norton / Special Lulu Gribbin is the keynote speaker at this year’s Joe Sewell Memorial Award program. Gribbin is a student at Mountain Brook High School and survived a vicious shark attack.

Everything surrounding the Joe Sewell Memorial Award keeps growing.

More funds are available for scholarships. More people are wanting to be on the award’s board. More students are involved. It keeps drawing inspiring speakers. This year more people can attend thanks to moving to a large facility at 17 Springs. Previously two programs were held — one for the ninth-grade certificate winners and another for the senior awards.
