Arrest made in prison drug smuggle attempt

A Birmingham man is in the Elmore County Jail after being caught near the state prisons with illegal drugs.

Lawrence Dudley, 45, was arrested May 23 and charged with two counts of reckless endangerment by the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office. According to court documents, deputies were asked to provide back up to officers with the Alabama Department of Corrections involved in a high speed chase in Elmore County.
