There will be no rezoning of the old Wetumpka Police Department property in west Wetumpka for now.

A measure to allow advertising of a public hearing for the rezoning 1.27 acres at 208 Marshall St. from low density residential to business conservation district failed to get council approval at Monday’s Wetumpka City Council meeting. It’s a site that is now vacant following cleanup of the 2019 tornado. It was the location of the Wetumpka Police Department. Before that it was a nursing home and a hospital. The property currently belongs to the City of Wetumpka.
