While Beau’s Law will help protect pets across the state, local governments already have similar laws in place.

“Wetumpka has had anti-tethering laws in place for a few years,” Humane Society of Elmore County executive director Rea Cord said. “I like that the more humane way to tether is defined. Logging chains are lousy, so it will help in that regard.”
