Aliant Bank shareholders have voted overwhelmingly in favor of a merger with USAmeriBank of Florida.

During the shareholders’ meeting Friday at Aliant’s Alexander City corporate office, bank officers reported that 96 percent of shareholders approved the merger with USAmeriBank and that the merger has already received regulatory approval. The final step to merging the two banks is the closing, which is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 30.
