Five months after the night of April 15, the Dadeville chief of police was recognized for his leadership and efforts during the aftermath.
Surrounded by family and friends, Dadeville Police Chief Jonathan Floyd received two awards at last week’s council meeting. Before presenting them, Mayor Frank Goodman first thanked Floyd for his outstanding leadership and the personal sacrifices he has made to ensure Dadeville is safe.

At 405 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Trammel Crossroads, or 12 miles north of Camp Hill. This thunderstorm
was nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Dadeville, Jacksons' Gap, New Site, Daviston, Eagle Creek, Horseshoe
Bend, and Horseshoe Bend National Military Park.
This includes US Highway 280 near mile marker 79.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible
and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
