The Alexander City Board of Education approved a resolution Tuesday asking the county commission to hold a vote on renewal of a three-mill ad valorem property tax the funds the school system.

Superintendent Darrell Cooper said the district is required by law to pass the resolution in order to continue the revenue stream, which has been in place since the 1920s.
