After rescinding two 7% increases in sewer rates over the next two years, the City of Alexander City has found itself looking for other sources of revenue to make up a deficit in the sewer department.

One potential solution that’ll be voted upon in the Jan. 27 city council meeting is an additional tax on hotel stays within Alexander City limits. The proposed tax would be between 4 and 5% and would be earmarked for the sewer department for the next three years.
