After nearly a year of preparation, the City of Alexander City Comprehensive Plan is in the first steps of its implementation. Starting in February 2024, Alex City citizens attended comprehensive planning meetings with planning and development consultants. Ben Wieseman, Matthew Leavell and Jim Byard led two planning meetings for residents to share the ideas they had for the next five to 10 years in the community.

After hearing citizens’ needs, the City of Alexander City along with the planning consultants developed five areas to focus on for the plan — housing, legibility and image, downtown, economic development and green and gray infrastructure.
