Visiting author details stories behind ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’

Kathy McCoy speaks at an author talk hosted by Dadeville Public Library and Dadeville Performing Arts Center.

On April 20, many came to Dadeville Performing Arts Center to learn more about “To Kill a Mockingbird” author Harper Lee and the town of Monroeville.

Former Monroe County Heritage Museums director Kathy McCoy wrote books such as “Monroeville: Literary Capital of Alabama” detailing the history of the town. During her author talk in Dadeville, McCoy went over some of Harper Lee’s inspiration for “To Kill a Mockingbird.” The only character Lee publicly said was based on a real person was the father character Atticus Finch, who was modeled after her own father.
