They say you can’t pour from an empty cup, which is why it’s so important for cancer patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals to find space for rest.
The nonprofit Contenu designs retreats for those impacted by serious illnesses. Next month, Contenu will be hosting a retreat at New Waters Farm in Dadeville for cancer patients, survivors, healthcare professionals and caregivers. Throughout the day, the retreat will focus on opportunities for participants to relax, recharge and refresh. Some of the activities include a therapeutic drumming program, Healing through Art with UAB Arts in Medicine, lessons on fruit farming, hula hoop fitness class, chair yoga, outdoor meditation, massage therapy and a leisurely boat ride along Lake Martin. During lunchtime, Dr. Beth Kitchin will go over the role of nutrition in healing and there will be healthy fruit popsicles available throughout the retreat.
