To build your case for the postseason, you have to win your area games. And after Friday, the Benjamin Russell baseball team has gotten a head start on that front, clinching a spot in the playoffs. Now all that is left to determine whether or not it will host the first round.

In the opener of area play, Benjamin Russell duked it out against Chilton County in a three-game series and broke out the brooms with a sweep. The Wildcats took all three games, 6-2, 10-7 and 4-0 to put them out in front of both Chilton County and Calera in the area.Â
