With qualifying closing for both the Democratic and Republican parties Friday at 5 p.m., a little more than a dozen candidates have qualified for local offices.

Incumbent Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett and incumbent coroner Mike Knox have both qualified through the Republican party for another term. Political newcomer Danny Robinson will face off against three other Republican candidates for the District 4 seat of the Tallapoosa County Commission.
