Highway 280 will look a lot more patriotic leading up to Alexander City in the near future, thanks to the city and two area businesses.

The American flags that have flown in the past along our stretch of the highway have not been put up yet due to their condition. After flying out in the elements following the events of Sept. 11, 2001, the flags became faded and not fit to be shown. Russell Lands and Russell Do-It Center offered to help by providing about half the costs of around 110 brand-new flags. Hwy. 280 will once again reflect the feelings of pride and patriotism that run in our county.
