With the primary election right around the corner, candidates running for local offices are scrambling to complete last minute campaign tasks before the polls close at 7 p.m. Tuesday to ensure they are the one selected by voters.

One of the most important races on Tuesday will be the contest for Tallapoosa County Superintendent of Education between incumbent Ginger East and challenger Philip Baker. Both candidates are Democrats running in the November election without Republican opposition meaning the winner of the race for the Democratic nomination wins the job outright.
