Alabama has no shortage of farm ponds. Within a few miles of virtually every one of us is a pond teaming with bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish. A large number of these ponds were constructed with the primary purpose of creating a watering source for livestock.

Most of us select the ponds we fish based on the recommendation of our friends or our own past personal experience with a particular pond. But what if you are visiting in an area where you have no fishing contacts and have to “wing it” on your own.
