While news of gas price increases are numerous across the country, the city of Alexander City is lowering one part of heating your home or cooking with gas. Monday, the city council approved an ordinance, which lowered the city’s gas tapping fee from $350 to $50.

“In many cases the old fee caused many homebuilders and homeowners not to use gas,” Mike Stewart said. Stewart is the superintendent of the city’s gas department. “By doing this we are hopefully going to encourage people to sign up.”
