Mark Allen Treadwell, city court judge, and Amanda Guffey, court magistrate, discussed the benefits of a public defender for indigent cases in municipal court in Tuesday’s Dadeville City Council meeting.

“It would be a benefit to the court to have a public defender at all times,” Treadwell said. “Currently we appoint a public defender on a case-by-case basis. If we had one at all times the trial process would speed up.”
