The drowning of two children in Equality last weekend was a tragic reminder that water safety needs to be on everyone’s mind as they cool off in the pool or lake this summer.

Jessi Hodge, head lifeguard for Alex City Parks and Recreation at the Russell outdoor pool, said supervision and knowing your surroundings are the two most important factors in water safety.
