Alabama has made progress in several areas of child well being but has fallen behind in others, according to a study released today. Kids Count 2005 is a five-year study that uses 10 indicators to rank child well being in each state. Alabama is slowly making progress in its efforts to improve the lives of children but there is still much more work to be done, as shown by the state’s drop in rank from 47 to 48 in the nation.
Apreill Hartsfield, director of policy and programs of VOICES for Alabama’s Children, said the state has continued to make progress in five of the 10 indicators that measure child well being.
