The Auburn University drumline strikes up a mesmerizing rhythm. A squadron of cheerleaders and baton twirlers leads a band of trumpets and trombones and tubas and snare drums down Donahue and Heisman drives, through a sea of burnt orange and navy blue shirts separated fromt he band by barricades.

The band walks in unison, each pair of legs moving in synchronized motion, each drumstick swinging in perfect rhythm with the next. It is a kaleidoscope of drums and trumpets and plumes and capes.
