A little beetle with big characteristics – that’s the eastern eyed click beetle.

This black-and-white beetle has big, black, white-rimmed eyespots on its back, or if you want to get technical about it, his pronotum, which is a shield-like section of the thorax directly behind an insect’s head. They’re not real eyes. Instead, they’re just markings to make him look bigger from above and – hopefully – scare away potential predators.
