Adams Health & Rehab Center in Alexander City culminates its weeklong celebration of Nursing Home Week with a July 4-themed parade led by the residents’ families. Staff and residents donned their patriotic garb to anxiously await the festivities. The majority of the 61 residents, including the memory care wing, were lined up on either side of the parking lot with signs that said, ‘I love you,’ followed by their family members’ names.‘We celebrated a holiday each day to celebrate the residents and (Friday) is Fourth of July Day,’ Adams administrator Debbie Stalnaker said. ‘It’s the first time we’ve had everyone outside at once in about 2 1/2 months. They are so excited.’The parade was led and followed by police escorts and kicked off with a line of antique cars, followed by a fire truck and family members’ decorated vehicles. Families honked, yelled, waved and sent sentimental messages to their loved ones who were waiting outside for them to drive by.Â
