On Thursday morning, Southern Preparatory Academy hosted the First Responder and 9/11 Memorial Parade on campus to honor those who sacrifice on a daily basis. Speaker of the House Mac McCutcheon was the guest of honor and guest speaker of the day. First responders from across east and central Alabama were invited. The cadets at Southern Prep practiced for about a month for the event, which was their first military-style parade of the year. The parade took place in front of the school and was followed by a small celebration and gathering of state legislators and other VIPs who were invited.
