(The Center Square) – The long-awaited opening of the so-called people mover system at Los Angeles International Airport has been pushed back once again, adding to a trail of budget overruns, legal disputes and growing frustration over taxpayer-funded infrastructure projects in Southern California.

The latest delay leaves the Skylink rail project three years behind schedule and $1.35 billion over budget. The system is now expected to cost $3.34 billion and is scheduled to open in January.
