Harrisburg, Pa. — The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania is asking the public to report any interference with elections, campaigns, or voting rights ahead of Tuesday’s general election.

The office said the Department of Justice plays an important role in deterring and fighting election interference. That includes protecting against what the office described as paid operatives coming into the district to disrupt campaigns, make threats of violence, or otherwise disrupt the electoral process.

Anyone with information about interference with campaigns, elections, or a person’s right to vote can call the office’s hotlines:

  • Williamsport: 570-326-2054
  • Harrisburg: 717-614-4246
  • Scranton: 570-207-2856

Complaints about possible violations of federal voting rights laws can also go straight to the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division in Washington. Call 800-253-3931 or fill out the complaint form at civilrights.justice.gov.

The office said anyone facing violence or intimidation should call 911 right away, before contacting federal authorities. State and local police have primary jurisdiction over polling places and can almost always respond faster in an emergency, according to the release.

The Department of Justice said it wants to make sure the public has confidence in the electoral process.
