(The Center Square) - A lawsuit over the admission of a transgender woman into a University of Wyoming sorority will start with opening arguments Monday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Denver.

The day in court comes three years after several women within the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority - an Ohio-based national, women-only nonprofit - filed a suit in Wyoming’s U.S. District Court over the admission of Artemis Langford, a transgender woman, into the organization’s chapter at the University of Wyoming. Langford is the first openly transgender woman to join at sorority at the university. The case is Holtmeier, et. al v. Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity, et. al. Proceedings are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. Mountain time Monday and will live stream at youtube.com.
