Wine country in September is a different place than the one most visitors book for summer, and this year it arrived earlier. California’s 2026 wine-grape harvest began weeks ahead of schedule, with Napa and Sonoma already well into crush and harvest programming running across four American wine regions from September into October. This is the most visibly active part of the wine-country calendar, and this year’s early harvest makes the window shorter than usual.
