A new study named Quebec City the world's best fall foliage destination for 2026, beating New England favorites like Burlington, Vermont, and Portland, Maine.

Travel company Iglu Cruise analyzed 40 destinations worldwide for its Global Autumn Leaves Index, ranking each based on tree density, autumn sunshine, available excursions, and UK search demand. Quebec City earned the top score of 90.6 out of 100, followed by Kyoto, Japan, at 85.9 and Burlington at 83.5.
