U.S. House has one week to reauthorize highway funding before it expires

(The Center Square) – Congress faces a Sept. 30 deadline to extend federal highway infrastructure funding before it expires, but the U.S. House has only a week left in session to help get the job done.

The bipartisan BUILD America 250 Act, a five-year surface transportation reauthorization bill costing $580 billion, cleared the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in May. As it is still not scheduled for a floor vote, however, Congress will likely pass a short-term extension.
