Wetumpka man charged with manslaughter in Saturday crash

A man driving a Ford F-150 in a Saturday crash on Coosa River Parkway that left one dead and three injured has been charged with driving under the influence and manslaughter.

Derrick Sims, 61, of Wetumpka, was arrested on the scene and charged with DUI. The traffic citation issued to Sims states his blood alcohol content was 0.14. The encounter with Sims was noted by the first Wetumpka police officer on the scene in an incident report found in court records. Sims was seen standing next to his truck.
