Mr. R. E. “Bo” Jordan, 93, of Tallassee, passed away September 25, 2013. He was born June 18, 1920. Visitation was Sunday, September 29 from 1-2 pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home; funeral services followed at 2 pm from the chapel with Chaplain Major Chris LaPack, USAF officiating. Burial with military honors at Chana Creek Cemetery , Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing. Bo grew up on the family farm in Elmore County during the Great Depression. After completing high school and two years of college at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn), he enrolled in the Army Air Corps Flight School. He graduated Flight School in December 1941, five days after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He flew 151 combat missions as a fighter pilot in the Pacific Theater in 1942-1943. His decorations for service include the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He married his college sweetheart, Sarah Abrams, the day after returning from the war. They were married 60 years and raised five children.
After leaving the Air Force in 1952, he farmed for a few years, and then began a career as a marine shop operator in the Lake Martin area that he continued for over 50 years.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of pipes they should be
wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
Those that have in ground sprinkler systems should drain them and
cover above ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
