It’s been a little over a year since I started my position at Tallapoosa Publishers, and I’ve learned a lot more than I had anticipated. I’ve learned when you work at a hyper-local paper, news values don’t hold as much importance as what the community values. I’ve learned the ins and outs of a community that, when I was hired, I knew nothing about despite being from the state.

Another thing I’ve learned I feel my professors did not emphasize enough to me how often we get asked not to print something in the paper.
