Beth Chapman, there is one major flaw in your argument that "Prevention is the best solution." Prevention is not the solution for ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, and myriad pregnancy complications that require medical intervention. "Abortion" is the term for a medical procedure; whether elective or medically necessary, the procedure IS an abortion. 

Extensive sex and health education, simpler access to birth control, and improvements to healthcare options would be a giant leap forward for Alabama--and the nation--toward your goal of reducing the number of elective abortions (Keeping in mind that no form of birth control is 100 percent effective except abstinence, which is not a realistic option for the entire adult population.)Â
