It's time to cue up “Also sprach Zarathustra” and turn on 2001: A Space Odyssey. Monoliths are starting to appear again.

Monday, the Las Vegas Police Department posted a picture of a tall, glasslike monolith that hikers found on the Gass Peak trail north of Sin City. Who put it there, or how it got there is anyone’s guess at the moment. This monolith is not the first of its kind, as for years, monoliths have been placed all around the globe seemingly at random. In 2020, a similar monolith was found in Las Vegas. In both cases in Vegas, officials were not sure what to do with the structure though the first iteration mysteriously vanished just a few days later.
