Coaching college football in the SEC is not for the faint of heart. It’s a cutthroat business and rules seemingly change every year, or are simply ignored like they never existed in the first place. Of course, that’s why these coaches get paid the big bucks. The king of the league has finally abdicated the throne and it’s time to reevaluate the hierarchy of coaches in the conference. Don’t shoot the messenger. In fact, I’d highly recommend you not shoot anyone as a general rule.

1. Kirby Smart – 9th year (94-16; 56-9) – Smart has struggled beating Alabama, but they’re the only one. Two national titles and three title opportunities speak for themselves.
