June is a month of many labels, and one of those is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. However, the focus on men’s mental health should not only last a single summer month.

According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, men account for 80% of all suicide deaths, and 60% of those men had no prior documentation of a mental health condition. ADAA also reported men account for four times the suicide rate of women and women report more attempts and are more often diagnosed with depression. These statistics highlight two facts: Men’s mental health is in a state of crisis and they are not seeking help at the rate they should be.
