It seems a bit unfair that a couple of recent monumental accomplishments regarding the human race’s technological capabilities have been somewhat overlooked or disregarded by media, due to other news stories that are more attention-grabbing (and all too often, sensationalistic).

That kind of prioritizing is another example of the news business morphing into show business, a la the rants of Howard Beale in the 1976 movie Network (previously noted in this space), but there’s an extra niggle, which is the notion of how all too many folks may now expect such technological progress, and once it’s attained, it’s quickly taken for granted.
