Roger McDonald named football coach/AD at Dadeville

The offseason was tough on many football programs around the country but there were just a few extra hurdles in Dadeville’s as the first couple of months went by without knowing who was going to be next in line as the program’s head coach.During the shutdown, the Tigers finally made their choice at the end of April as they were set to hire a new football coach for the first time since 2000.McDonald brought with him a lot of experience, including a 101-69 career record over Alabama and Georgia. In 14 seasons as an Alabama head coach, McDonald coached Carroll of Ozark and Valley, making the postseason five times.“I just believe in being physical and hard-nosed and wanting to put a tough product on the field,” McDonald said. “We make things challenging for our kids because we don’t want them just to be tough in football; we want them to be mentally tough… We want to put kids in the best position and not have to think; they can just be aggressive and play.”In its first season under McDonald, Dadeville made its first postseason appearance since 2015.
