Teaching Integrity as a Core Skill, not a Side Topic

In many education settings, integrity is treated as a policy instead of a practice. It shows up in codes of conduct, plagiarism warnings, and exam guidelines, but it often stops there. When students are only reminded to “be honest” during testing or final submissions, the message feels like a rule, not a value. That approach doesn’t leave much room for students to understand how integrity fits into their long-term personal and professional growth.

If we want ethical leadership to grow in any field, we need to treat integrity as something to be practiced every day. That takes time, discussion, and repeated opportunities to weigh choices.
