Even with a young team wrestling on the mats this season, Wetumpka’s boys and girls wrestlers fought through injuries, nerves and all kinds of adversity at AHSAA’s Class 6A-7A South Sectionals last week. Five wrestlers, one girl and four boys, came out the other side as state qualifiers.
Kolby Smith, a ninth grader at 113 pounds, wrestled his way to a first place medal and a spot in the state finals in Huntsville.
