Come next season, high school basketball in Alabama will have a new look: A quicker pace, more possessions and possibly more turnovers. Last Wednesday the AHSAA announced it would implement a 35-second shot clock for boys and girls basketball teams starting in the 2026-27 season.

In its statement the AHSAA said its central board had considered the change for a time and consulted basketball coaches in the decision.
