Edgewood Academy’s football team suffered a tumultuous season last year, ending in a less-than-ideal result: a first-round exit from the playoffs. This season, the Wildcats will have new faces on the sidelines, including their new head coach, Gregg Baker. Baker returns to the AISA after a stint at Wetumpka and then Redland, bringing along many years of experience coaching high school football in Alabama. 

The Wildcats will start the season at home hosting Bessemer Academy on Aug. 21. This is an early-season test for Edgewood, who lost to the Rebels 42-0 in its previous meeting in 2024. Bessemer is the only non-region game on the Wildcats’ schedule.
