Ana Sofia Meyer / TPI Edgewood Academy's Jadah Townsend dribbles through Lakeside defenders on the hunt for a basket to close the gap. Townsend has 17 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four blocks in the loss to Lakeside.

After a great season, Edgewood’s girls basketball team finished in second place in its AISA Class A area and was set to fight for a spot in the playoffs. Things ultimately did not go the Wildcats’ way, falling to Lakeside 54-34 on Friday night.

“(Tonight) I saw some of the stuff that we’ve been working on over the course of the season,” Edgewood coach Joseph Townsend said. “I know for a fact we’ve gotten better. I think that with our setbacks, a few of our girls have been sick; the flu has been going through our school and this tournament just hit us at the wrong time. But you know, it is what it is. We’re gonna keep working and get back at it and come out stronger next year.”
